Tumulus

The name of the beer refers to the rich Hesbaye region where important citizens used to be honoured with impressive burial tombs or tumuli. Even today these tumuli are visibly present in the landscape of Landen with amongst others the Borntombe in Walsbets, de Middelwinde tombe in Neerwinden, the Plattetombe in Waasmont and of course de Tombe of Pepijn in Landen.

"Experiment 15 is gedurfd"

"Het is een amberkleurig bier van acht procent alcohol met een bijzondere smaakevolutie." Die smaakevolutie dankt Experiment 15 aan een unieke samenstelling van verschillende gistsoorten, waaronder de unieke gist van de Kale Ridders. De brouwers maakten van dit bier 3.000 liter. "Op is op", zeggen de brouwers.

Tumulus Aura 33 cl

Tumulus
TUM-AURA-33
Weight: kg

The Tumulus Aura is the lighter brother of the Tumulus 800, for bitterness as well as for alcohol percentage. Therefore it is an ideal reception beer or an alternative for lager beer for those that seek additional value! The composition of the malts is similar and the hopping is done with the same noble hops for the Tumulus Aura as for the Tumulus 800. Also the fermentation of this beer is done with the same unique yeast strain, developed by the KU Leuven/VIB for De Kale Ridders, who selected it for the pleasant and fruity aromas it produces. After the high fermentation the Tumulus Aura is refermented in the bottle.
Taste & Aftertaste:  Fruity accents rule in smell and flavour, besides notes of wheat malt. Different fruit flavours can be distinguished, such as mango, banana, grapefruit, lychee, citrus, or something for everybody! In the aftertaste the soft bitterness of 35 EBU is clearly manifested. The Tumulus Aura has a full and delicate foam head.
Serving temperature:  Well chilled at ca. 2 - 4 °C.
Serving tip:  The Tumulus Aura is best served in a Tumulus glass. According to personal preference the deposit of yeast and wheat can or cannot be poured in the glass. On warm days, the Tumulus Aura becomes really refreshing when served in a glass straight out of the freezer.

Stout/ Porter : Baltic Porter

Silver Tumulus Nera

By De Kale Ridders Bvba Belgium

Based on wheat malt, Tumulus Nera is a triple wheat stout and a perfect marriage between the Anglo-Saxon stout and the Belgian-style triple beers. The natural black colour (218 EBC) is created solely by the use of roasted malts. Like all other Tumulus beers, Tumulus Nera is a full-malt beer brewed in accordance with the demanding rules of the “Reinheitsgebot”. A noble hop is used for the hopping of this black beer leading to a final bitterness of 45 EBU. Tumulus Nera is a top fermented beer with refermentation in the bottle.
Taste & Aftertaste:  Coffee and dark chocolate definitely rule in the taste of this eccentric Belgian stout. Hints of liquorice are noticeable. The hoppy bitterness is manifested in the aftertaste.
Serving temperature:  Mildly chilled at 6-10 °C.

Discounts when you buy 3 - 6 - 9 or 12 bottles.

Tumulus Magna is a strong wheat beer inspired by the German “Weizen” wheat beers, but with that something extra. The use of 4 different malts results in a light amber colour and a natural cloudiness, since Tumulus Magna is not filtered. The hopping of this beer is done with the finest Hallertauer hop flowers. Tumulus Magna is a top fermented beer with refermentation in the bottle, enabling a favourable evolution of the taste pallet.
Taste & Aftertaste:  Starts soft as velvet with a pleasant and rich mouth feeling and a full creamy head. Ends with a hop bitter and long lasting aftertaste. Correctly stored (10-15 °C and dark), the taste evolves from malty to more fruity and spicy flavours.
Serving temperature:  Well chilled at 4-6 °C.
Serving tip:  As for all wheat beers it is recommended to “waltz” the bottom of the bottle so that all ingredients will be freed and you can fully enjoy the exquisite taste pallet of this beer. Tumulus Magna excels in its own glass.

Tumulus 800 is a lively blond beer. Like its big brother, Tumulus Magna, it is a full-malt beer brewed with 4 different malts of which wheat and barley malt. Tumulus 800 is hopped with noble hops and is fermented with an innovative yeast strain developed by the University of Leuven/VIB and selected especially for its outstanding aroma profile. Tumulus 800 is not filtered and referments in the bottle.
Taste & Aftertaste:  The nose is very rich with fruity aromas, while a fresh spicy bitterness dominates the taste. With a bitterness of 50 EBU it is one of the most bitter Belgian beers around, but the noble hops ensure a nice balance. The bitterness prolongs itself nicely in the aftertaste. The foam is very soft and delicate and lasts for quite a while.
Serving temperature:  Well chilled at 2-4 °C.
Serving tip:  As for all wheat beers it is recommended to “waltz” the bottom of the bottle so that all ingredients will be freed and you can fully enjoy the exquisite taste pallet of this beer. Tumulus 800 excels in its own glass, frozen if possible, especially on a hot summer day.
